# Phantom alternatives: what to use instead, by why you want to leave

> If Phantom’s 0.85% swap fee bothers you, Backpack and Solflare add no fee of their own. If you run many wallets, use a wallet manager. If you want your keys on hardware, use Solflare with a Ledger or Keystone. Your recovery phrase moves with you either way.

## By the reason you are leaving

| Why you want to leave | Try | What changes |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Swap fees (0.85%) | Backpack, Solflare, Jupiter Mobile | 0% of their own, or 0.1% to 0.2% on most pairs at Jupiter |
| Too many wallets to manage | Raven | Folders and moves across many wallets in one review |
| Want keys on hardware | Solflare with Ledger or Keystone | Signs only on the device |
| Want to send privately | Raven | Private sends through three routes |
| Want more chains | Backpack | About 15 networks, no swap fee |

## Swap fees

Phantom charges 0.85% on most swaps. On $1,000 a day that is about $3,100 a year. Backpack has charged nothing on swaps since March 2026, Solflare adds no platform fee to Jupiter's route, and Jupiter Mobile charges 0.1% on SOL and big coins and 0.2% on most others. Raven charges 0.4%. See [Solana swap fees compared](/blog/solana-wallet-swap-fees-compared).

## Too many wallets

Phantom shows one account at a time in one list, and its blog puts the limit at 100 accounts. If you run dozens of trading, testing or burner wallets, a wallet manager saves hours: Raven keeps every wallet in folders, splits one wallet into many, consolidates many into one, swaps and cleans up across all of them in one review. See [how to manage many Solana wallets](/blog/manage-multiple-solana-wallets).

## Hardware security

Phantom supports Ledger. Solflare supports Ledger and Keystone, an air-gapped wallet that signs through QR codes. For savings, a hardware wallet with either app is the safest setup.

## Privacy

None of the big wallets sends privately. A normal transfer links two wallets forever. Raven's Send has a private option: an exchange pays the other wallet in about 30 seconds, a hop through Monero in about 5 minutes, or the Privacy Cash pool. See [how to send SOL privately](/blog/send-sol-privately).

## How to switch without moving any money

Switching wallet apps does not move anything on chain. Your wallets live on Solana; the app only holds the keys.

1. Find your recovery phrase in Phantom: Settings, Manage Accounts, the account, Show Recovery Phrase. For accounts you imported as keys, Show Private Key.
2. Import the phrase into the new app. It should show the same accounts if it uses Phantom's derivation path, m/44'/501'/n'/0'. See [Solana derivation paths explained](/blog/solana-derivation-paths).
3. Check the balances match before you remove anything from Phantom.

Many people do not leave Phantom at all: they keep it for daily use and run the rest of their wallets elsewhere.

## Questions

### What is the best alternative to Phantom?

It depends on the reason. For fees, Backpack or Solflare. For many wallets or private sends, Raven. For hardware keys, Solflare.

### Will my coins move if I switch?

No. Importing your recovery phrase into another app shows the same wallets; nothing is sent anywhere.

### Is Solflare better than Phantom?

For Solana-only users who stake or use a hardware wallet, often yes. For people who want many chains and features in one app, Phantom.
