# Gas wallet

> One wallet pays every wallet’s network fees, so the others can be emptied to zero.

- Gas wallet (pays every fee) → fee → Wallet 1 (sends all it has) → Main (gets every lamport)
- Gas wallet → fee → Wallet 2 (sends all it has) → Main
- Gas wallet → fee → Wallet 3 (sends all it has) → Main

The gas wallet signs each transaction as its fee payer, so the others can send every last lamport.

## Why it helps

A wallet that pays its own fee can never quite reach zero: the fee has to come from somewhere. With a gas wallet, another wallet pays it, so Consolidate, Retire and Clean up can take a wallet down to exactly nothing.

## Set one

1. **Open Settings, Sending, Gas wallet.** Or pick it from a wallet’s own menu.
2. **Pick the wallet.** Keep a little SOL in it.

## How it pays

- It pays the network fee, and any rent a move needs, for every other wallet in that move.
- It goes last: it stays funded until every other wallet in the move is done.

## Under the hood

- **Fee payer**: Every Solana transaction names one account that pays its fee. Raven names the gas wallet, and it signs alongside the wallet that is moving money.
- **Rent too**: When a move opens a coin account, the gas wallet puts up the rent, so the wallet being emptied does not need any SOL at all.
