# How moves work

> Every move is planned, shown to you in full, tried against the chain, and only then signed and sent.

## From plan to receipt

- Plan (your balances) → Review (every number) → Test run (not sent) → Sign (in your browser) → Send (until it lands)

If a test run fails, nothing is signed and you see why in plain words.

1. **Plan.** You choose what moves, from where, to where. Raven works out every transaction it needs from your balances right now.
2. **Review.** Every amount, every wallet, the network fee and any service fee, before anything signs.
3. **Test run.** Each transaction is run against the chain without being sent. If one would fail, you see why first.
4. **Sign and send.** Your keys sign inside your browser and the transactions go out.
5. **Follow.** Raven watches each one until it lands, then writes a receipt with every line.

## Many wallets at once

A move across many wallets runs in stages. Inside a stage, each wallet’s transactions go one after another, and different wallets go side by side, so a split into 20 wallets never waits on each one in turn.

## Speed

**Settings, Speed** sets what Raven offers the network to land a move sooner when it is busy.

| Speed | What it does |
|---|---|
| Slow | The base network fee only |
| Normal | A little more when the network is busy |
| Fast | More, to land sooner when it is busy |

## When something goes wrong

- A move that partly went through is marked **Needs a look** in [Activity](https://ravenwallet.pro/docs/activity), with what happened to each line.
- If the network does not pick a transaction up in time, Raven says so and nothing moves. It never sends a move twice by itself.
- A frozen wallet cannot send anything until you unfreeze it.

## Under the hood

- **Packed to fit**: Solana takes at most 1,232 bytes per transaction. Raven packs a move’s steps into as few transactions as fit, and says how many on the review.
- **A fee you set**: Each transaction carries a compute limit and a price per unit. Speed sets that price; the review shows the total.
- **Tested before signing**: Every transaction is simulated against the chain. A swap’s test also checks the coin you get really lands, and that nothing else leaves.
- **Sent until it lands**: The signed transaction is sent again every few seconds until Solana confirms it or its blockhash runs out, about a minute later. Then Raven reports it did not land, and nothing moved.
- **Stages**: Steps that depend on each other run in order (a coin account opens before money goes into it). Up to five wallets run side by side.
