Stake SOL: jupSOL or your own stake account

Native staking needs at least 1 SOL, starts earning at the next epoch (about two days) and takes an epoch to come back. jupSOL has no minimum, can be sold any moment, and takes 5% of base staking rewards plus a 0.1% deposit fee.

How staking works on Solana

Validators run the network and earn rewards for it each epoch, about every two days. When you stake, you delegate SOL to a validator and share in those rewards. Your SOL never leaves your control: a stake account you own holds it, and only you can withdraw.

Your own stake account

You make a stake account, put SOL in it, and delegate it to a validator you choose.

FeesThe validator’s commission on rewards, set by each validator

Pick a validator with a low commission, good uptime and a stake that is not already huge, to help spread the network. The rewards go to the stake account itself and compound.

jupSOL

jupSOL is a liquid staking token: you swap SOL for jupSOL, and the SOL behind it is staked with Jupiter’s validator. Instead of paying rewards out, each jupSOL becomes worth more SOL over time.

You can also use jupSOL in other apps, as collateral or in pools, while it earns.

Which one to pick

  • Under 1 SOL, or you may need it back fast: jupSOL.
  • You want your own validator, or no token in between: a stake account.
  • Many wallets: jupSOL is simpler; each stake account is one more account to track.

Both carry the same main risk as holding SOL: its price. A liquid staking token adds the risk of its own program and its price on the market, which can drift a little from the SOL behind it.

How Raven does it

Raven’s Earn has both. Easy turns SOL into jupSOL in one step. Direct makes stake accounts from your wallet’s own key, lets you pick the validator, and reads the minimum and the rent from the chain before you sign. Staked SOL shows in each wallet’s coins, and a wallet with staked SOL cannot be deleted by accident.

Questions

What is the minimum to stake SOL?

1 SOL for a native stake account as of October 2026. jupSOL has no minimum.

How long does unstaking take?

A native stake takes until the end of the current epoch, up to about two days. jupSOL can be sold at once.

Is staking SOL safe?

Your SOL stays in an account you control, but rewards are not guaranteed, they depend on the validator you pick, and SOL’s price moves.
