Manage many Solana wallets in one place

Most wallet apps are built for one wallet. If you run ten, fifty or five hundred, you need folders, moves that work on many wallets at once, and one list that shows what every wallet holds.

Why people run many wallets

Running more than one wallet is normal on Solana. The usual reasons:

  • Keeping risk apart. A wallet that signs for a new site or a fresh coin can be drained by one bad approval. Keeping your savings in a wallet that never connects to anything limits what one mistake costs.
  • Trading. Traders keep a wallet per strategy, per bot or per launch, so their history and profit stay readable and one bot cannot touch another’s balance.
  • Privacy. Everything one address does is public forever. Spreading activity across wallets keeps your whole history out of one search.
  • Testing and work. Developers, teams paying contributors and people running airdrops all need many addresses they can fund and empty quickly.

Where normal wallet apps fall short

Phantom, Solflare and Backpack are built around one active account. You switch to a wallet, act on it, switch to the next. That is fine for three wallets and painful for thirty:

  • One wallet at a time. Moving SOL from 20 wallets into one is 20 separate sends, each with its own confirm.
  • Lists built for a handful. Phantom said in 2023 that it holds up to 100 accounts. There are no folders, so 100 accounts is one long list.
  • No total. You cannot see what all your wallets hold together, or which ones still have coins in them.
  • Rent and dust everywhere. Every wallet collects spam coins and empty token accounts, each holding about 0.0015 to 0.002 SOL of rent you could take back.

What a wallet manager should do

If you run many wallets, these are the things worth having:

  1. One list of every wallet with its SOL, its coins and its value, sortable, with a total across all of them.
  2. Folders and names, so “Snipe test 4” never gets confused with “Savings”.
  3. Moves that work on many wallets in one review: send from several, split one into many, consolidate many into one, swap across many.
  4. Clean up that sells dust worth selling, burns spam, closes empty accounts and returns the rent, across every wallet at once.
  5. A gas wallet that pays the network fee for wallets holding coins but no SOL.
  6. Limits on how much can leave a wallet in a day, and a way to freeze a wallet so nothing leaves it.
  7. Keys you control, made on your device and backed up with words you hold.

One recovery phrase or many keys?

A single recovery phrase can make thousands of wallets: each one is the same 12 or 24 words with a different number at the end of its derivation path. One backup brings all of them back. The catch is that anyone who sees those words gets every wallet made from them.

Separate private keys keep each wallet on its own. Losing one key loses one wallet. The catch is that each key needs its own backup.

Most people who run many wallets mix the two: one phrase for wallets they keep, and separate phrases or keys for throwaway wallets they use with new sites. See seed phrase vs private key for what each one unlocks.

Keeping wallets apart on chain

Wallets are only separate if nothing on chain joins them. The most common link is funding: if one wallet sends SOL to twenty new ones, anyone can see that all twenty belong to the same person. Wallet trackers group wallets this way automatically.

If that matters for a set of wallets, fund them through a route that breaks the trail. See how to send SOL privately.

How Raven does it

Raven was built for this. Every wallet sits in one list with its coins, SOL and value, inside folders you name. Select many wallets by dragging a box, Shift-clicking a range or ticking rows, then right-click to act on all of them:

  • Split one wallet into up to 20 others in one review, new wallets included.
  • Consolidate many wallets back into one, coins and all.
  • Swap any coin to any coin from one wallet or many.
  • Clean up every selected wallet: dust sold or burned, empty accounts closed, rent back as SOL.
  • Freeze wallets, set daily limits, or name a gas wallet that pays fees for the rest.

Keys are made in your browser and locked with your password; Raven’s server keeps only the locked copy. One vault holds up to 1,000 wallets, on a computer, on your phone and in Chrome.

Questions

How many wallets can I have on Solana?

As many as you like. A wallet is just a key pair, and making one costs nothing. It only takes up space on chain once it holds SOL, and then it needs at least 0.00065 SOL, which comes back if you empty it.

Do I need SOL in every wallet?

Every transaction needs a fee payer with SOL. Usually that is the wallet sending, but any wallet can pay the fee for another. A gas wallet lets wallets that hold only coins still move them.

Is it safe to keep many wallets in one app?

It depends on where the keys live. Look for an app that makes keys on your device, locks them with your password, never sends them anywhere unlocked, and lets you back up with your own recovery words.
