How to export your Axiom wallet's private key
Axiom’s own docs describe one way to take your wallets with you: the Secret Recovery Phrase, which you can see at any time in Axiom’s settings. Import that phrase into Phantom, and Phantom will show the private key for each wallet under Settings, Manage Accounts, Show Private Key.
The short answer
Axiom shows you a Secret Recovery Phrase when you sign up. Its sign up guide says you can “access your recovery phrase at any time in your settings”, and that the phrase is there so “at any time, you can recover your wallets.” Axiom also recommends importing that phrase into a standard wallet such as Phantom, Rabby or Solflare.
So the route to a private key that Axiom’s docs support has two steps:
- Copy down the recovery phrase from Axiom’s settings.
- Import it into Phantom (or another Solana wallet), then show the private key there for the wallet you want.
Axiom’s docs do not describe a separate button that shows a single wallet’s private key. If you see one in the app, that is Axiom’s own screen, and the same safety rules below apply.
Where Axiom keeps your keys
Axiom calls itself a trading app and a wallet in one. Its FAQ says it uses non-custodial infrastructure and names Turnkey as its wallet partner. Turnkey lists Axiom among the apps that run its embedded wallets.
That matters for exporting. Turnkey’s docs say an export is encrypted to a key held on your side, and shown inside a page from export.turnkey.com that sits within the app. In Turnkey’s words, “neither your app nor Turnkey ever sees the plaintext.” After a wallet is exported, Turnkey marks it as exported. The wallet keeps working, but from then on its safety depends on how you store what you exported.
Step 1: get the recovery phrase from Axiom
- Open Axiom at its official address, axiom.trade, and sign in the way you signed up (email, Google or Phantom).
- Open your settings and find the recovery phrase.
- Write the words down on paper, in order, with nobody watching your screen.
Axiom’s guide puts it plainly: “Never ever share your Secret Recovery Phrase with anyone!” The phrase is more powerful than any one private key. It rebuilds every wallet made from it.
Step 2: import the phrase into Phantom
Phantom’s help centre gives these steps:
- Phone: on the welcome screen, tap More Options, then Import Recovery Phrase. Enter the words and tap Import.
- Browser extension: click the Phantom icon, then I Already Have a Wallet, then Import Recovery Phrase. Enter the words, click Import Wallet and set a password for this device.
Phantom says accounts that have been used before come back by themselves. If a wallet is missing because it has never been used, Phantom’s troubleshooting guide covers it, and Solana derivation paths explains why the same words can show different wallets in different apps.
Get Phantom only from phantom.com or your phone’s official app store.
Step 3: show the private key in Phantom
Once the wallets are in Phantom, each one has its own private key:
| Where | Steps |
|---|---|
| Phone | Profile icon, Settings, Manage Accounts, the three dots next to the account, Show Private Key, pick Solana |
| Browser extension | Profile icon, the gear, Manage Accounts, the account, Show Private Key, pick Solana |
If Solana is not in the list, turn it on under Settings, Active Networks. For the formats a key comes in and why an import can say incorrect format, see import and export Phantom private keys.
Wallets you imported into Axiom as keys
A recovery phrase only rebuilds the wallets that were made from it. If you brought a wallet into Axiom by pasting its private key, that wallet did not come from Axiom’s phrase, and the phrase will not bring it back. Keep that key from wherever it came from in the first place.
Phantom’s help centre also notes the other direction: trading apps such as Axiom or Padre ask for a private key rather than a recovery phrase, which is why a Phantom phrase gets rejected there. It adds a rule worth keeping: only export a private key if you trust the place it is going and understand why it needs direct access.
Keep it safe
- A private key empties one wallet. The phrase empties all of them. Anyone who has either can move your coins from anywhere, and nobody can undo it.
- Axiom support never asks for it. Axiom’s support page says help comes only through private tickets in its Discord, warns that scammers pose as support staff, and tells you to ignore direct messages. Nobody genuine will ask for your words or your key.
- Type it only into the app you are moving to, opened from its official address, never into a site you reached from a link, a DM or a search ad.
- Keep the paper offline. No screenshots, no notes app, no cloud drive.
If you think someone already has your phrase or key, read what to do in the first hour after a wallet is drained.
If you run many wallets
Traders often end up with a handful of Axiom wallets plus a few burner keys from other bots. Raven Wallet is a Solana wallet manager that holds many wallets in one place. You can bring wallets in with a seed phrase or a private key, and a picker shows what each account holds before you add it. Keys are made and locked in your browser with your password, and Raven’s server keeps only that locked copy. Raven is invite only for now: join the waitlist. More in about Raven.
Questions
Can I see my Axiom recovery phrase again after sign up?
Yes. Axiom’s sign up guide says you can see your recovery phrase at any time in your settings.
Is Axiom custodial?
Axiom’s FAQ says it runs on non-custodial infrastructure with Turnkey as its wallet partner, and that your funds stay in your control.
Will my Axiom phrase work in Phantom?
Axiom itself recommends importing the phrase into Phantom, Rabby or Solflare. Used wallets come back by themselves; if one is missing, check the derivation path.
